StengerandLloyd …nothing but the blues…
©

Piano, Vocals and Harp

A classic combination

Blues presented in their authentic form with none of the 1970s glitter. For over thirty years Andi Stenger (pno, vcl) and JB Lloyd (vcl, hca) have played the blues around the world to audiences large and small. A wide ranging program, from gospel through boogie-woogie to Chicago classics and soul, penetrates. This is no music for hotel lounges. For these performers, if it has passion and the right context it’s blues! The audience is drawn into a performance that attempts to explain, contextualise and project the music. There is always a line to be drawn between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation - not a matter of political correctness but one of understanding. Although their standard configuration is a duo, they often incorporate other instruments and musicians for their gigs. But what can you say about a musical perfomance that can’t be said better by just experiencing it? Be there; see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

Maxwell Street Blues

Repetoire includes: Albert Ammons, Big Joe Turner, Otis Spann, Junior Wells, James Cotton, Sam Cooke, JT Brown, George Smith, George Gershwin, Sonny Boy Williamson, Booker T, Pete Johnson, Little Walter, Louis Jordan, Otis Rush, Gene Allison.
